Exactly why Boarding School?

Going to boarding school isn't an easy decision. You'll need to adjust to a new natural environment. The physical separation from the family and old friends could make the decision emotionally difficult. Economical costs are also a consideration. Is it worth it? Couldn't the same knowledge and experience be proposed by a private day school? Or even a magnet school? Or a excellent public high school?
